AutoClasica 2016

Por iniciativa de Gonza para salir a dibujar el Lunes 10/10 feriado puente y propuesta de Walter para ir a AutoClasica a dibujar autos, allí fuimos a esta espectacular expo de vehículos clásicos.

Esta fue la XVI edición, que se realizó en los jardines del Jockey Club de San Isidro del 7 al 10 de Octubre.

By Gonza’s initiative to go sketching on Monday 10 “bridge holiday” and Walter’s proposal to visit AutoClasica to draw cars, there we went to this spectacular classic car expo.

This was the sixteenth edition, held in the gardens of San Isidro Jockey Club from 7 to 10 October.

Como este tipo de eventos convoca gran cantidad de público, a las 9 nos encontramos en la puerta. Estuvimos un buen rato visitando los distintos puestos hasta que cerca de las 11 nos decidimos a dibujar. Realmente fue difícil la elección, uno puede elegir entre más de 50 autos verdaderamente hermosos. Finalmente me decidí por la versión militar de un camión Ford Canada F15A de 1943. Estaba en el puesto de la A.A.C.V.Mil. (Asociación Argentina de Coleccionistas de Vehículos Militares).

Quiero destacar que fui atendido por los muchachos encargados del puesto de forma muy amable y colaborativa. Me dieron permiso para sentarme en el lugar vallado donde se encontraban los vehículos, y ahi me pase pasi 2 horas para completar el trabajo de línea de camion.

Luego complete con acuarela en casa.

As this type of event convenes a large audience, at 9 o'clock we were ready at the door.

We had a good time visiting the various stands until around 11 we decided to draw. It was really difficult choice, one can choose from more than 50 cars truly beautiful. Finally I decided on a military version of a Ford Canada F15A 1943 truck. It was in the stand of the A.C.C.V.Mil. (Argentine Association of Collectors of Military Vehicles).

I want to emphasize that I was treated in a very friendly and collaborative manner by the boys of the staff. I was admitted to sit in the fenced place where the vehicles were, and I spend there almost 2 hours to complete the line work of the truck. Then completed with watercolors at my desk.

Luego de la sesión de dibujo de la mañana nos fuimos a almorzar pizza. El lugar ya desbordaba de visitantes.

Para la sesión de dibujo de la tarde se planteó el mismo dilema: que dibujar??? Fui a ver mis marcas preferidas: PORSCHE y JAGUAR. Los porches estaban imposibles, mucho gentío. En cambio Jaguar tenía en exposición más de 20 autos, la situación estaba bastante mejor. Igualmente dibuje la cola de un XK 120 Roadter de 1953, del otro lado de la circulación de exposición.

Este auto directamente me parece una joya, una belleza!

After the morning drawing session we went to lunch pizza. The place was already overflowing with visitors.

For the afternoon drawing session, the the same dilemma arises: what to draw ??? So I went to see my preferred brands: PORSCHE and JAGUAR.

The porches were impossible with a large crowd. Instead Jaguar has on display more than 20 cars, the situation was much better. Even though y sketched the tail of a 1953 XK 120 Roadster, in the other side of the main path.

This car is a gem, a beauty!

Dia de Palermo / Palermo Day:

El Sábado 25 de Junio Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires fue invitado a exponer dibujos en “Café Cortázar” con motivo de los festejos del Dia de Palermo.

La consigna fue dibujar el café y distintos puntos de interés del barrio para armar una exposición en el 1° Piso del Bar.

El Día del barrio de Palermo se instituyó a través de la ordenanza 43.653 de 1989. Con respecto al origen del nombre de este barrio, las discusiones aún continúan. La primera de las dos hipótesis más difundidas y posibles vincula esta denominación con Juan Domínguez Palermo, quien a principios del siglo XVII era el propietario de las tierras; la segunda nos dice que el mismo deriva de un oratorio en el que se veneraba una imagen de San Benito de Palermo.

On Saturday June 25 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires was invited to exhibit drawings in "Café Cortazar" on the occasion of the celebrations of the Day of Palermo neighborhood.

The slogan was to draw the coffee shop and various POI’s of the area to put together an exhibition on 1st Floor Bar.

Day of Palermo was instituted by the ordinance 43.653 of 1989. With regard to the origin of the name of this neighborhood, discussions continues. The first of the two most widespread and possible hypothesis links this name with Juan Dominguez Palermo, who in the early seventeenth century it was the owner of the land; the second tells us that it derives from an oratory in which an image of San Benito of Palermo was worshiped.

Esta fue una actividad complementaria de Croquiseros. Se llevó a cabo un mes antes de la expo, y cada uno era libre de ir a dibujar en cualquier momento.

Un sabado soleado pero de mucho frio combinamos con Walter y Gonzalo para ir juntos, aparte Gonza vino con su hija Clarita. Luego de un buen rato dibujando en la calle fuimos a tomar un buen café con torta en Café Cortazar. Muy linda tarde, compartida con amigos!.

Obviamente los 4 dibujamos la fachada del café.

This was an complementary activity of Croquiseros. It was held one month before the expo, each was free to go at any time draw.

A sunny but very cold Saturday got together with Walter and Gonzalo to draw, and Gonza came with his daughter Clarita. After a long while drawing on the street we went to have a coffee with cake at Café Cortazar. Very nice evening shared with friends !.

Obviously the 4 of us draw the facade of coffee.

El sabado siguiente fui a dibujar la fachada de Francisco Acuña de Figueroa al 1569. Un edificio de arquitectura industrial de principios del siglo pasado. Charlando con el dueño, me comentaba que su abuelo lo había construido con destino de aserradero, que luego terminó como garage.

Ese dia fui con mi hija, y los 2 pasamos la tarde dibujando en la calle.

Luego de dibujar la fachada, Lucila dibujó un viejo portón con grafitis y yo un viejo y abandonado Citroen CX (hermoso auto!).

The following Saturday I went to draw the facade of 1569 Francisco Acuña de Figueroa St. An industrial architecture building of early last century. Chatting with the owner, he tells me that his grandfather had built it with sawmill destination in mind, which then ended up as garage.

That day I went with my daughter and we spent the afternoon drawing on the street.

After drawing the facade, Lucila drew an old gate with graffiti and I an old and abandoned Citroen CX (beautiful car!).

Pabellón Postal / Postal Pavilion:

El Sabado 17 de Octubre se realizo la salida N° 55 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires por invitación del Arq. Ricardo Castañeda de la Comisión de Cultura de la Comuna 14. El motivo de la misma era el Pabellón Postal. La cita fue en el estacionamiento del complejo Easy/Jumbo.
El edificio es obra del arquitecto Virgilio Colombo fue bautizado como "Pabellón del Servicio Postal de la Exposición Ferroviaria y de Transportes Terrestres del Centenario" y se encuentra “escondido” en los fondos del “Jumbo” de Palermo (Av. Sarmiento y Cerviño) apretado contra la valla que lo separa del Regimiento Uno de Patricios.
Este Pabellón, construido para los festejos patrios de 1910 por el centenario de la República, constituye una pieza fundamental del patrimonio histórico de nuestro país, y se encuentra en un estado total de abandono.
La última vez que se restauró fue en 1996, aunque sólo la fachada. Para esa fecha ya se había perdido la parte superior abovedada, que remataba en un gran globo terráqueo sostenido por cuatro mujeres.

On Saturday October 17 took place the #55 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires outing,  by invitation of architect Ricardo Castaneda of the Committee on Culture of the Commune 14 of Buenos Aires city. The reason for it was the "Pabellon Postal". The appointment was in the parking lot of the Easy/Jumbo complex.
The building was designed by architect Virginio Colombo and named "Postal Service of the Railway and Transport Pavilion for the Centennial Exhibition" and it is "hidden" in the funds of "Jumbo Hypermarket" of Palermo (Sarmiento and Cerviño Av.) pressed against the fence that separates it from Patricios Regiment One.
The Pavilion, built for the 1910 patriotic celebrations for the centenary of the Republic, is a fundamental part of the historical heritage of our country, and it is in a total state of abandonment.
In 1996 was last restored, but only the facades. By that time it had already lost the top dome, which ended in a big globe supported by four women.



Pabellón del Servicio Postal - Expo 1910... por velvetypuzzled


LLegue temprano a la cita y fui directamente al nivel más alto del estacionamiento, del que se tiene una vista muy buena de la cúpula del Pabellón, casi a nivel de la base de la misma.
Quería empezar dibujando el frente de edificios sobre la avenida Sarmiento. Desplegué mi banquito y elementos de dibujo y cuando me disponía a empezar vino un guardia de seguridad para ver qué estaba haciendo. Le comente el evento de Croquiseros Urbanos pero no tenia noticias. Llamó a la base y le pidieron que me lleve hasta alla. Le dije que no se preocupe, me fui a la calle Cerviño (fuera del complejo) y dibuje un atractivo rincón de las vías del ferrocarril.
En libreta Moleskine Sketchbook large, con lapicera Kaweco con pluma EF y tinta marron resistente al agua por 40 minutos. Luego acuarela en casa.

I Arrived early and went straight to the top level of the parking lot, of which we have a very good view of the dome of the pavilion, almost at the level of the base thereof.
I wanted to start by sketching the front of buildings on Sarmiento Av. Pull down my bench and sketching gear and when I was ready to start a security guard came to see that I was doing.  I commented the Croquiseros event but he had no news.  He call to the base and they asked him to take me there. I told him not to worry about and get out the complex. I went to Cerviño Av. and sketch an interesting railway corner.
On Moleskine sketchbook large, with Kaweco fountain pen with EF nib, with brown waterproof ink for about 40 minutes. Later add watercolors at my desk.

Ahora si, desde el estacionamiento hacia la cúpula! Este es el dibujo que quería hacer en esta salida. Camine a lo largo del borde del estacionamiento para ver que punto de vista me gustaba. El que elegí es pegado a las torres de enfriamiento del aire acondicionado y el ruido estaba muy molesto, pero esa vista valia la pena!!!.
En cuaderno Stillman & Birn A4 Alpha Series, en 2:30hs aproximadamente para el trabajo de línea y acuarelas. Con lapicera Kaweco con pluma EF y tinta marrón resistente al agua.
A las 17hs compartimos los trabajos en la base del pabellón, y luego café en un bar del complejo. Linda tarde!

YES, now from the parking lot to the dome! This is the picture I wanted to do. Walk along the edge of the parking lot seeking for the best point of view. My selection was very near to the cooling towers of air conditioning and the noise was annoying, but that view was worth it!!!.
Drawn with Kaweco fountain pen with EF nib with brown water resistant ink, then watercolors. On Stillman & Birn A4 Alpha Series sketchbook, for about 2 and a half hours.
At 5 pm we share our works at the base of the pavilion, and then coffee in a bar in the complex. Nice afternoon!
