Av. de Mayo Este / East de Mayo Av.:

Tarde de sábado muy gris. En cualquier momento llovería y estaba dudando partir para la salida #81 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires a Av. de Mayo Este, el 16/12/17. Última salida del año. Tenía muchas ganas de dibujar ahí. Si bien hice muchos croquis a lo largo de la avenida, hacia rato no estaba por ahí.
Me fui de casa sabiendo que en cualquier momento volvería. A lo sumo dibujaría desde algún café.

Gray Saturday evening. At any time it would rain and I was hesitant to go for the #81 outing of Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires to East De Mayo Av., on 12/16/17. Last meeting of the year. I really wanted to draw there. Although I did many sketches along the avenue, I didn't draw there since a while.
I left home knowing that at any time I would return. At the most I would draw from a café table.





Llegue más temprano que de costumbre y fui directo a dibujar la esquina de Perú y Av. de Mayo. Hacía tiempo tenía ganas de dibujar el anexo de las ex tiendas Gath & Chaves. Me acomode en mi banquito a 50m de la esquina aproximadamente y traté de dibujar lo más rápido posible. Ya estaba negro y en cualquier momento empezaba la lluvia, y parecía que iba a caer mucha agua.
Pude terminar con el trabajo de línea, con lápiz mecánico 03 y 05. Pude empezar con acuarela a pintar los vidrios y se vino la lluvia. Me refugié bajo el techito de un kiosco de diarios que estaba cerrado y pinté un poco más. Cuando ya estaba bien mojado decidí dejar eso para más tarde y ver que podía hacer desde otro lugar.

I arrived earlier than usual and went straight to Peru St. and De Mayo Av. For long ago I wanted to draw the the former Gath & Chaves store annex building. I settled on my bench about 50m from the corner and tried to draw as quickly as possible. It was already black and at any moment the rain began, and it seemed that a lot of water was going to fall.
I was able to finish with the line work, with mechanical pencil 03 and 05. I could start with watercolor to paint the glasses and the rain begun. I took refuge under the roof of a newspaper kiosk that was closed and painted a little more. When I was already well wet I decided to leave that for later and see what I could do from another place.

Me fui al Pasaje Roverano. Ahí adentro podía dibujar al reparo de la lluvia. Bueno, sábado a la tarde esta cerrado.
Camine para el oeste y ver si encontraba a alguien del grupo. Estaba Alex, Carlos, Eleonora, Alberto y Cesar dibujando en la esquina de Av. de Mayo y Piedras, en la ochava bajo techo, o casi. Ya llovía poco asi que los acompañe ahi. Dibuje la esquina opuesta. Un par de remates, desde la esquina hacia mitad de cuadra.
Hice trabajo de línea con microfibra 01 y acuarela en el lugar. Estuve alrededor de 90 minutos.

I went to the Roverano Passage. Inside, I could draw out of the rain. Well, Saturday afternoon is closed.
I walked to the west and see if I could find someone from the group. There was Alex, Carlos, Eleonora, Alberto and Cesar drawing at the corner of De Mayo Av. and Piedras St., in the indoor ochava, or almost. It was already raining so little that I accompanied them there. Draw the opposite corner. A couple of toppings, from the corner to the middle of the block.

I did line work with 01 fine liner and watercolor on site. It took me around 90 minutes.

Todavia con un rato hasta terminar la jornada, ya con sol me instale en el eje del edificio del Café Tortoni. Quería dibujar la marquesina. Al terminar el dibujo decidí incluir también el edificio.
Con una rara decisión lo dibuje en lápiz, para que quede en un segundo plano.
Eso fue todo, luego en casa complete con acuarela.

Still with a while until the end of the day, with sun I settled on the axis of the Tortoni Café building. I wanted to draw the canopy. When finished drawing it I decided to include the building.
With a rare decision I draw it in pencil, so that it is in the background.
That was it, then at home complete with watercolor.

Para la expo, que la hicimos en la plaza Roberto Arlt, había poca gente. El mal tiempo fue determinante para desistir de salir a dibujar.
Por la noche había fiesta Croquisera de fin de año, pero por el cumple de mi hijo no pude ir.
A pesar de la lluvia fue una linda tarde. Hice 3 dibujos, pero me quede con trabajo para completar en casa.

For the expo, which we did in the Roberto Arlt square, there were few people. The bad weather was decisive to desist from going out to draw.
At night there was a Croquiseros party to close the year, but because of my son's birthday, I could not go.
Despite the rain it was a lovely afternoon. I made 3 drawings, but I stayed with work to complete at home.

Rocha - Casimires / Rocha Cashmere:

Hacia un buen tiempo quería regalar a mi amigo David que, finalmente el sábado 30 de abril decidí salir a cumplir. El alguna vez me había comentado que este negocio tiene que ver con su familia. No tenía mucho que pensar, aparte que es una hermosa esquina para quedar bien con un amigo :D.

From some time ago I wanted to give my friend David a sketch as a present, so on Saturday April 30 I decided to fulfill. Once he told me that this business has to do with his family. There was not much to think about, besides that this is a beautiful corner to get along with a friend :D.

El edificio fue proyectado por Pablo Scolpini y terminó su construcción en 1925. En la planta baja funcionó desde entonces Casimires Rocha y en los pisos superiores casas de renta. En 2009 el Museo de la Ciudad reconoció a Rocha Casimires como uno de los locales y edificios porteños que mantienen sus características originales y expresan la memoria de distintas épocas.

The building was designed by Pablo Scolpini and finished its construction in 1925. On the street level established Rocha Cashmere, and houses for rent on the upper floors. In 2009 the City Museum recognized Rocha Cashmere as one of the shops that retain their original features and express the memory of different periods.

El dibujo lo realice en el lugar, con lapicera Kaweco con pluna EF con tinta resistente al agua marron en hoja suelta Canson Montval 270gms, en 2hs aproximadamente. Luego acuarelas en mi escritorio.

Did the linework on location with Kaweco fountain pen with EF nib with brown water resistant ink, on Canson Montval 270gms single sheet. Took about two hours to complete. Later added water colors at my desk.

Plaza Matheu / Matheu Square:

El sábado 17 de enero se realizó la salida 58 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires a la Plaza Matheu, en el corazón del barrio de La Boca.

Pleno verano de Buenos Aires, día soleado y mucho calor, pero gracias a la frondosa cúpula verde de la plaza fue muy soportable.

La plaza fue inaugurada en 1910. En 1912 se inauguró el pabellón de baños y vestuarios que hoy cumple la función de biblioteca infantil. Además, la plaza cuenta con una tradicional calesita, y sobre la calle Magallanes, al 1140, la casa donde vivió Juan de Dios Filiberto, que en su fachada cuenta con un mural de Benito Quinquela Martin.

En el entorno a la plaza, y para recordarnos que estamos en pleno barrio La Boca, hay construcciones industriales y las tradicionales casas de chapa.

On Saturday, January 17 took place the #58 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires outing  to Matheu square, in the heart of La Boca neighborhood.

As Buenos Aires midsummer, sunny day and very hot, but thanks to the lush green dome of the square was very bearable.

The square was opened in 1910. In 1912 the pavilion bathrooms and locker rooms were inaugurated, and today serves as a children's library. In addition, the square has a traditional carousel, and over the 1140 of Magallanes Street, the house where Juan de Dios Filiberto lived, with its facade featuring a mural of Benito Quinquela Martin.

In the vicinity of the square, and to remind us that we are in the neighborhood of La Boca, there are industrial buildings and traditional houses veneer.

Este primer croquis es del pabellón de la Biblioteca. Realizado con lapicera Kaweco AL con pluma EF con tinta resistente al agua marrón y acuarelas. En hoja Canson Montval 300gms. En 90 minutos aproximadamente.

Este croquis se lo regalé en un muy buen ex-compañero de trabajo: Javi: espero que lo cuelgues en tu casa!!!

This first sketch is about the Library. Done with Kaweco Al fountain pen with EF nib with water resistant brown ink, on Canson Montval 300gms sheet. Over 90 minutes.

El 2° fue de este camión DESOTO, viejo y descuidado estacionado frente a la plaza. Con micro fibras 005+01. Luego acuarelas en mi escritorio. En libreta Moleskine sketchbook large. Dibujo en el lugar por 45 minutos aproximadamente.

The second is a old and run down DESOTO truck parked in front of the square. With 005+01 fine liners. Later added watercolors at my desk. On Moleskine sketchbook large. 45 minutes drawing on location.

Pabellón Postal / Postal Pavilion:

El Sabado 17 de Octubre se realizo la salida N° 55 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires por invitación del Arq. Ricardo Castañeda de la Comisión de Cultura de la Comuna 14. El motivo de la misma era el Pabellón Postal. La cita fue en el estacionamiento del complejo Easy/Jumbo.
El edificio es obra del arquitecto Virgilio Colombo fue bautizado como "Pabellón del Servicio Postal de la Exposición Ferroviaria y de Transportes Terrestres del Centenario" y se encuentra “escondido” en los fondos del “Jumbo” de Palermo (Av. Sarmiento y Cerviño) apretado contra la valla que lo separa del Regimiento Uno de Patricios.
Este Pabellón, construido para los festejos patrios de 1910 por el centenario de la República, constituye una pieza fundamental del patrimonio histórico de nuestro país, y se encuentra en un estado total de abandono.
La última vez que se restauró fue en 1996, aunque sólo la fachada. Para esa fecha ya se había perdido la parte superior abovedada, que remataba en un gran globo terráqueo sostenido por cuatro mujeres.

On Saturday October 17 took place the #55 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires outing,  by invitation of architect Ricardo Castaneda of the Committee on Culture of the Commune 14 of Buenos Aires city. The reason for it was the "Pabellon Postal". The appointment was in the parking lot of the Easy/Jumbo complex.
The building was designed by architect Virginio Colombo and named "Postal Service of the Railway and Transport Pavilion for the Centennial Exhibition" and it is "hidden" in the funds of "Jumbo Hypermarket" of Palermo (Sarmiento and Cerviño Av.) pressed against the fence that separates it from Patricios Regiment One.
The Pavilion, built for the 1910 patriotic celebrations for the centenary of the Republic, is a fundamental part of the historical heritage of our country, and it is in a total state of abandonment.
In 1996 was last restored, but only the facades. By that time it had already lost the top dome, which ended in a big globe supported by four women.



Pabellón del Servicio Postal - Expo 1910... por velvetypuzzled


LLegue temprano a la cita y fui directamente al nivel más alto del estacionamiento, del que se tiene una vista muy buena de la cúpula del Pabellón, casi a nivel de la base de la misma.
Quería empezar dibujando el frente de edificios sobre la avenida Sarmiento. Desplegué mi banquito y elementos de dibujo y cuando me disponía a empezar vino un guardia de seguridad para ver qué estaba haciendo. Le comente el evento de Croquiseros Urbanos pero no tenia noticias. Llamó a la base y le pidieron que me lleve hasta alla. Le dije que no se preocupe, me fui a la calle Cerviño (fuera del complejo) y dibuje un atractivo rincón de las vías del ferrocarril.
En libreta Moleskine Sketchbook large, con lapicera Kaweco con pluma EF y tinta marron resistente al agua por 40 minutos. Luego acuarela en casa.

I Arrived early and went straight to the top level of the parking lot, of which we have a very good view of the dome of the pavilion, almost at the level of the base thereof.
I wanted to start by sketching the front of buildings on Sarmiento Av. Pull down my bench and sketching gear and when I was ready to start a security guard came to see that I was doing.  I commented the Croquiseros event but he had no news.  He call to the base and they asked him to take me there. I told him not to worry about and get out the complex. I went to Cerviño Av. and sketch an interesting railway corner.
On Moleskine sketchbook large, with Kaweco fountain pen with EF nib, with brown waterproof ink for about 40 minutes. Later add watercolors at my desk.

Ahora si, desde el estacionamiento hacia la cúpula! Este es el dibujo que quería hacer en esta salida. Camine a lo largo del borde del estacionamiento para ver que punto de vista me gustaba. El que elegí es pegado a las torres de enfriamiento del aire acondicionado y el ruido estaba muy molesto, pero esa vista valia la pena!!!.
En cuaderno Stillman & Birn A4 Alpha Series, en 2:30hs aproximadamente para el trabajo de línea y acuarelas. Con lapicera Kaweco con pluma EF y tinta marrón resistente al agua.
A las 17hs compartimos los trabajos en la base del pabellón, y luego café en un bar del complejo. Linda tarde!

YES, now from the parking lot to the dome! This is the picture I wanted to do. Walk along the edge of the parking lot seeking for the best point of view. My selection was very near to the cooling towers of air conditioning and the noise was annoying, but that view was worth it!!!.
Drawn with Kaweco fountain pen with EF nib with brown water resistant ink, then watercolors. On Stillman & Birn A4 Alpha Series sketchbook, for about 2 and a half hours.
At 5 pm we share our works at the base of the pavilion, and then coffee in a bar in the complex. Nice afternoon!

Museo del Automóvil:

El Sábado 29 de Agosto organizamos con USK Buenos Aires una visita al Museo del Automóvil, para dibujar solamente… autos!
El museo se encuentra en el barrio de Devoto, es una colección particular. Cuenta con muchos ejemplares, desde autos de carrera, de uso particular, nacionales, importados, históricos, etc.

On Saturday August 29 we organize a USK Buenos Aires outing to Museo del Automóvil (automobile museum), just to draw… cars!
The museum is located on Devoto Neighborhood, and it's a private collection. One can find race cars, for particular use, domestic, imported, historical, etc.

Este primer croquis es de una camioneta de servicio del corredor Oscar Alfredo Gálvez. Me gusta mucho la parte delantera, con detalles cromados y aluminio, aparte de la carrocería en 2 colores.
En cuaderno Moleskine A4 para acuarela, con micro fibras 005 y 01 en 90 minutos aproximadamente. Hice algunos detalles de colores en el sitio, luego complete con acuarelas en casa.
El otro croquis en de un tótem del Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA), que se encuentran en todas las estaciones de servicio del Club.
En cuaderno Moleskine A4 para acuarela, con lapicera Lamy con pluma EF con tinta resistente al agua + acuarela en 30 minutos aproximadamente.

This first sketch is a service pick-up of racer Oscar Alfredo Galvez. I really like the front part with chrome and aluminum, apart from the body in 2 colors.

The other sketch is of a totem of the Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA), which is found in all service stations of the Club.

Este es de un hermoso camion de bomberos. No habia mucha informacion del mismo. Me encanto el armazón del radiador en bronce.

This is a beautiful fire truck. Not much information about it. I loved the radiator frame in bronze.
