Un Sábado de recorrida por obras de construcción en el microcentro, me detuve en la esquina de Maipu y Tucuman para hacer un croquis de este hermoso edificio. Conocido por albergar la famosa Farmacia Suiza en el local de Planta Baja. Se estima que abrió sus puertas alrededor de 1890.
Obra del Arquitecto Louis Dubois (Frances), fue un importante representante del Art Nouveau. El edificio fue restaurado en 2003 por el estudio Aslan y Ezcurra.
En un lote en esquina, con locales comerciales en PB y casas de renta en los pisos superiores.Es una tipología clásica del s.XIX, que consta de un volumen compacto y una saliente en la esquina cubriendo el acceso al local comercial. La fachada tiene detalles y ornamentos de fajas cerámicas, mayólicas y rosetones. También se conservan los trabajos de Herreria originales.
La farmacia es la segunda en importancia de la ciudad. La primera es la Farmacia de la Estrella, en Alsina y Defensa, en el Casco histórico de la ciudad.

A Saturday visiting construction places at downtown, I stopped at the corner of Maipu and Tucuman St. to sketch this beautiful building. Known for hosting the famous Swiss Pharmacy in the ground floor. It is estimated that it opened its doors around 1890.
Work of the Architect Louis Dubois (French), was an important representative of Art Nouveau. The building was restored in 2003 by Aslan and Ezcurra architectural firm.
In a corner lot, with commercial premises in the ground floor and houses for rent in the upper floors. It is a classic typology of the XIX Century, that consists of a compact volume and a salient in the corner covering the access to the commercial premises. The facade has details and ornaments of ceramic bands, majolicas and rosettes. Also the original blacksmith works are conserved.
The pharmacy is the second in importance of the city. The first is the Pharmacy of the Star, in Alsina and Defensa St. in the historical center of the city.
