AutoClasica 2016

Por iniciativa de Gonza para salir a dibujar el Lunes 10/10 feriado puente y propuesta de Walter para ir a AutoClasica a dibujar autos, allí fuimos a esta espectacular expo de vehículos clásicos.

Esta fue la XVI edición, que se realizó en los jardines del Jockey Club de San Isidro del 7 al 10 de Octubre.

By Gonza’s initiative to go sketching on Monday 10 “bridge holiday” and Walter’s proposal to visit AutoClasica to draw cars, there we went to this spectacular classic car expo.

This was the sixteenth edition, held in the gardens of San Isidro Jockey Club from 7 to 10 October.

Como este tipo de eventos convoca gran cantidad de público, a las 9 nos encontramos en la puerta. Estuvimos un buen rato visitando los distintos puestos hasta que cerca de las 11 nos decidimos a dibujar. Realmente fue difícil la elección, uno puede elegir entre más de 50 autos verdaderamente hermosos. Finalmente me decidí por la versión militar de un camión Ford Canada F15A de 1943. Estaba en el puesto de la A.A.C.V.Mil. (Asociación Argentina de Coleccionistas de Vehículos Militares).

Quiero destacar que fui atendido por los muchachos encargados del puesto de forma muy amable y colaborativa. Me dieron permiso para sentarme en el lugar vallado donde se encontraban los vehículos, y ahi me pase pasi 2 horas para completar el trabajo de línea de camion.

As this type of event convenes a large audience, at 9 o'clock we were ready at the door.

We had a good time visiting the various stands until around 11 we decided to draw. It was really difficult choice, one can choose from more than 50 cars truly beautiful. Finally I decided on a military version of a Ford Canada F15A 1943 truck. It was in the stand of the A.C.C.V.Mil. (Argentine Association of Collectors of Military Vehicles).

I want to emphasize that I was treated in a very friendly and collaborative manner by the boys of the staff. I was admitted to sit in the fenced place where the vehicles were, and I spend there almost 2 hours to complete the line work of the truck. Then completed with watercolors at my desk.

Luego de la sesión de dibujo de la mañana nos fuimos a almorzar pizza. El lugar ya desbordaba de visitantes.

Para la sesión de dibujo de la tarde se planteó el mismo dilema: que dibujar??? Fui a ver mis marcas preferidas: PORSCHE y JAGUAR. Los porches estaban imposibles, mucho gentío. En cambio Jaguar tenía en exposición más de 20 autos, la situación estaba bastante mejor. Igualmente dibuje la cola de un XK 120 Roadter de 1953, del otro lado de la circulación de exposición.

Este auto directamente me parece una joya, una belleza!

After the morning drawing session we went to lunch pizza. The place was already overflowing with visitors.

For the afternoon drawing session, the the same dilemma arises: what to draw ??? So I went to see my preferred brands: PORSCHE and JAGUAR.

The porches were impossible with a large crowd. Instead Jaguar has on display more than 20 cars, the situation was much better. Even though y sketched the tail of a 1953 XK 120 Roadster, in the other side of the main path.

This car is a gem, a beauty!

Barrio Chino / Chinatown:

El sábado 17 de Septiembre se realizó la salida 66 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires al Barrio Chino, pleno Belgrano C.

El barrio está dividido por las vías del tren del ramal Mitre que va a Tigre. Hacia el oeste están las Barrancas de Belgrano, una sucesión de 3 plazas diseñadas por Carlos Thays. Hacia el río encontramos el típico damero porteño alterado por las vías. Es aquí donde se formó el Barrio Chino.

El movimiento que hay los sábados por la tarde es realmente intenso.

On Saturday, Septembre 17 took place the #66 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires outing to Chinatown, in Belgrano “C” neighborhood.

The neighborhood is divided by the railroad tracks of Mitre branch that goes to Tigre. To the west we find the Barrancas de Belgrano, a succession of 3-seater designed by Carlos Thays. To the river we find the typical Buenos Aires checkerboard pattern only altered by the tracks. This is where Chinatown was formed. The movement there on Saturday afternoon is really intense.

Queria dibujar el portal de ingreso al Barrio, pero cuando vi los leones quedé maravillado por esas esculturas. Busque un lugar cerca del león y me senté a dibujar por 2hs aproximadamente. Me resultó bastante más complejo de lo que pensé, ya que estuve dibujando un buen rato. Y la tarde no dio para más. Solo dibuje en línea el animal. Luego complete con acuarelas en casa.

Uno de los motivos por los cuales tarde más de lo que pensaba fue la gran cantidad de gente. Pasaban por todos lados, le metian la mano en la boca para hacer sonar la esfera, se sacaban fotos, se paraban enfrente mio a conversar, etc, etc. Aparte soporte a un dúo de Colombianos cantando y tocando la guitarra, que a la media hora de escucharlos ya había sido demasiado.

I want to draw the portal entrance to Chinatown, but when I saw the lions was amazed by these sculptures. I look for a place near the lion and sat down to draw for about 2 hrs. I was far more complex than I thought, I keep sketching for a while. And the afternoon was no more. Just draw the line work of the animal. Then completed with watercolors at home.

One of the reasons that this took longer than I expected was the insane number of visitors.

Passing everywhere, they put his hand in his mouth to sound the sphere, take pictures, stood in front of me to talk, etc, etc. Besides enduring a Colombian duo singing and playing the guitar, that half an hour hearing was enough.

San Isidro:

Con el auspicio del Club Atlético San Isidro (C.A.S.I.) y el Honorable Concejo Deliberante de San Isidro, la organización “San Isidro es Arte” invito a Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires a realizar una de nuestras salidas complementarias el día sábado 3 de Septiembre.

El dia se repartió en 2. Por la mañana dibujamos en la Catedral de San Isidro. Luego nos fuimos para el CASI donde nos esperaban con empanadas y vino. Y a la tarde dibujar las instalaciones del club, con partido de rugby incluido.

Sponsored by the Club Atletico San Isidro (C.A.S.I.) and the Honorable Council of San Isidro, the organization "San Isidro is Art" invited Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires to make a complementary outing on Saturday September 3.

The day was divided by 2. In the morning to draw at San Isidro Cathedral. Then we headed to the CASI where we were invited with empanadas and wine for lunch. And in evening to draw the club facilities, with a rugby match included.

Puntos de interes del entorno / POI of the sorroundings:

De los variados puntos de interés del entorno, ya sabía que dibujaría la catedral. Tenía que definir qué hacer. Un buen lugar es desde la Plaza Mitre. Finalmente elegí una vista exterior paralela a la nave lateral izquierda y como punto focal del croquis el acceso al transepto. Fue un dia muy frio, pero al sol estaba muy bien.

La catedral fue inaugurada en 1898, trabajo de los arquitectos Jacques Dunant y Charles Paquin. Se encuentra en el mismo sitio que ocupaba la capilla fundada por el capitán Domingo de Acassuso en 1706. De estilo Neogótico, la torre principal mide 68m de alto, planta en cruz latina de tres naves con ábside circular. Las columnas son cilíndricas y las paredes de piedra y ladrillo tienen aberturas con vitraux confeccionados en Francia y rosetones góticos. Hace pocos años comenzó un plan de restauración integral con el fin de devolverle el esplendor perdido

Of the various points of interest of the place, I knew I was going to draw the cathedral. I only have to define what to do. A good place is from Mitre Square. Finally I chose an outside view parallel to the left side aisle and as a focal point of the sketch, the transept entrance. It was a very cold day, but at the sun was fine.

The cathedral was opened in 1898, by architects Jacques Dunant and Charles Paquin. It is located on the same site occupied by the chapel founded by Captain Domingo de Acassuso in 1706. Neo-Gothic style, the main tower is 68 m high, a Latin cross three aisles with circular apse. The columns are cylindrical, the walls of stone and brick have openings with stained glass made in France and Gothic rosettes. A few years ago a exhaustive restoration is in progress in order to restore the lost glory.

Luego del convite de empanadas y vino dibujamos las instalaciones del club.

Yo elegi el remate del edificio de Club House, de estilo neo colonial!?... Muros azules, molduras blancas y cubierta de tejas coloniales.

Elegí esto por estar cómodamente sentado en una mesa, compartiendo el momento con Walter, Jorge y luego se sumaron Oscar y Helena, luego algunos más. Entre dibujo, acuarelas y mucha charla aparecieron las nubes, taparon el sol y empezo el frio.

Al terminar el croquis, con unos minutos por delante hasta la hora de exposición, dibuje al amigo Gustavo. Yo pense que el estaba dibujando, pero luego me di cuenta que estaba con celular en mano!!!

After empanadas and wine invite, we draw the club.

I choose the Club House building topping, neo colonial style!?... blue walls, white moldings and covered with colonial tiles.

I chose this to be comfortably seated at a table, sharing the moment with Walter, Jorge and then joined Oscar and Helena, then some more. Among sketching, watercoloring and chatting appeared the clouds, and the cold began.

Upon completing the sketch, with a few minutes ahead until the time of exhibition, I draw my friend Gustavo. I thought he was drawing, but then I realized that he was with his cellphone in hand!!!

Plaza Francia / France Square:

El sábado 16 de Julio se realizó la salida 64 de Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires a la Plaza Francia, pleno barrio de La Recoleta.

La realidad es que la juntada fue en la Plaza Intendente Alvear, pero se le llama Plaza Francia a todo el conjunto verde de ese lado de Av. del Libertador.

On Saturday, July 16 took place the #64 Croquiseros Urbanos de Buenos Aires outing to France Square, in Recoleta neighborhood.

The real thing is that the outing took place on Intendente Alvear Square, but is called Plaza Francia to all green set on that side of Del Libertador Av.

Ya fui decidido a dibujar el Monumento ecuestre a Carlos María de Alvear, con la idea de hacer una vista panorámica de Plaza Intendente Alvear, con el campanario de la Basílica Nuestra Señora del Pilar, el Centro Cultural Recoleta, etc de fondo. Hacia un frio de a ratos insoportable cuando soplaba viento. Dibuje con guantes, campera y gorro. También complete con acuarelas en el lugar.

Dibujado en libreta Moleskine A4 para acuarela a doble hoja. Dibujo en micro fibra 005 y acuarelas en el sitio. Aproximadamente 2:30 horas

I already went determined to draw the Monument to General Carlos Maria de Alvear, with the idea of making a panoramic view of the Mayor Alvear Square, with bell tower of the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar, Recoleta Cultural Center, etc at the background. It was cold, really cold with unbearable moments when the wind blows. Draw with gloves, jacket and cap. Also complete with watercolors on site.

Cuando termine con el primer croquis tenía poco menos de 1 hora antes de la juntada general, y para escapar del frío me metí en el Cementerio de la Recoleta. Ya había dibujado ahí, pero tiene tantos rincones interesantes que seguramente encontraba algo más.

Primero me detuve con un abarrotado recorte contra el cielo de agujas, esculturas, cornisas y ventilaciones. Lindo contraste para dibujar.

Ya camino a la salida del cementerio y con unos minutos más, me llamó la atención la tumba que hizo Justa Maria de Atucha a su esposo. Arranque por el rincón más interesante pero no pude terminar, ya estaba en horario.

De estos 2 croquis solo hice el trabajo de línea. Complete con acuarelas en casa.

Dibujado en cuaderno Stillman & Birn con micro fibra 005 en 30 minutos el primero y 20 minutos el segundo. Luego acuarela en mi escritorio.

When finished with the first sketch had little less than 1 hour before the general gathered, and to escape the cold got into the Recoleta Cemetery. I had already drawn there, but has many interesting corners that certainly was something else.

First I stopped by a crowded cut against the sky, with needles, sculptures, cornices and ventilations. An interesting contrast to draw.

In my way out of the cemetery and a with a few more minutes, I noticed the grave Justa Maria de Atucha built for her husband.  Start by the most interesting corner but could not finish, I was on schedule.

Of these two sketches I only did the line work. Later completed with watercolors at home.

A las 17hs nos juntamos todos los croquiseros en el Monumento a Carlos María de Alvear para compartir nuestra producción. Luego un merecido café con tostado para calentarnos un poco.

At 5 pm al sketchers gather at the Carlos Maria de Alvear Monument to share our production. Then, a deserved coffee to warm up a bit.
